The Company Section is the senior section of the Company. The age group covered makes this the most difficult Section to which to attract boys and, more particularly to retain them into their teens. The fact that we have had reasonable success in doing this reflects very much on the varied programme that we try to offer.

A typical Friday evening starts at 7.15pm with the boys lined up in their Squads (currently four) for an 'Opening Service'. This is basically a brief talk by one of the Officers on a subject of his choice, trying to bring in an appropriate message. The 'Service' ends with a prayer and is followed by a Uniform Inspection. It is emphasised at the Inspection that failure to achieve a good standard of turn out lets down no only the boy himself, but also the other members of his Squad. It is remarkable how much attention the boys do actually pay to their turn out (or perhaps it's their parents!)
After the Inspection, the boys change into sports gear and participate in a variety of indoor sports and classes on subjects designed to take them through the B.B. badge programme. There are 5 Badges and three stages to each (Community, Physical, Adventure, Leadership and Interest). Some of the badge work involves outdoor activities such as Hill Walking and Camping while other work such as the final stage of Leadership requires attendance at external course run by the B.B. Work which can be done on Friday night includes Photography, Model Making, Computing, Media Studies, Drumming etc. Where skills are not available amongst the Officers, assistance is sought from suitably qualified members of the Congregation and Kirk session. The Police and Fire Service have also provided training courses both in the Kirk Hall and at Fire Stations on subjects such as personal safety, crime prevention, drug awareness and fire safety.
Approximately once every 5/6 weeks, we try to have an evening away from the Kirk Hall. These trips can either be purely 'fun' - swimming, Laserquest, 10 Pin Bowling etc - or partly educational such as trips to Police Stations and Fire Stations. Saturday outings for Mountain Biking, Go-Karting etc are also arranged.
Once a year, in late May or Early June, we take a party of boys for a weekend to the Abernethy Outdoor Centre at Nethy Bridge, Inverness-shire. There boys get the chance to participate in sports such as Canoeing, Sailing, Abseiling, Gorge Walking, Archery etc fully supervised by instructors from the centre fully qualified in the sport in question.
